These photos were taken by acclaimed photo journalist and activist Donna Ferrato who in the early 90’s broke open the nasty nasty phenomenan of domestic violence—or as I prefer to call it, just plain old violence against women.
Performance artist Missy Galore, kindly invited Donna to my art activist Passover installation on the eve of the artist Seder where 60 people activated the installation that you see below. Enjoy these images from “The Medium is the Matzo”

On May 2nd, 2005 the last day of the show all 120 jars of Matzo Ball Soup some of which you see here were transported to the Hebrew Union College soup kitchen. This is what I call Matzo Ball activism, in other words, I am using the line in the Haggadah that says “let all who are hungry come in and eat” and transforming this into a mandate to take the seder to the public arena— and go out and actively feed people.

The whole wheat Matzo Mitzrayim Tunnel
(for the uninitiated Mitzrayim translates as the narrow places and Egypt, think Egypt in the time of slavery not the Egypt of today).
